Dr Granville Frederick Langly-Smith qualified from Guys Hospital, London in 1971. He had been doing VSO work in Tanzania before that setting up irrigation systems, building bridges and a Dispensary. Bitten by the travel bug, after working in a number of Practices in London, he took up a special appointment as a Dental Officer on the QE2. This was followed by an offer to study in Canada which he turned down to work in Cape Town for a few years before travelling by camper van through the whole of Africa, settling in Jersey.
He was a General Dental Practitioner running his own Practice in Jersey for 35 years. During this time he studied for two decades in the USA and in 2000 was recognised as a Specialist Orthodontist for his excellent Orthodontic Patient treatment.
He has always had a keen interest in the way the teeth meet together and the relationship of the jaws. He recognised early in his career that a persons' bite can have a profound effect upon their Health and Wellbeing.
A published author (Is Your Bite Quite Right? and Face To Face With The Face) and an Internationally acclaimed Lecturer, he is passionate about passing on his experiential knowledge to help other Dental Professionals achieve the Orthodontic results he has given his very appreciative patients with the standard trademark of their wide gleaming smiles.
Drs Catherine Fiona and Granville Frederick Langly-Smith have worked together for nearly 25 years. They have shared their joint experience in Dentistry to offer the very best care they can to their patients. This was initially in their separate Practices and then from 2011 from the Southampton Practice where Dr Granville Frederick Langly-Smith as a Specialist Orthodontist took over all the expanding Orthodontic work.
From 2015 they built a brand new bespoke Dental Practice at Landford in the New Forest designed particularly for teaching purposes. This was officially opened on Saturday 16th July 2018 at 1028am by the Right Honourable Sir Desmond Swayne, Canon Bede Cooper, Lucie Lewis MBE, Tony Laurie and Dr Gerry Smith from the United States. All the team and our many loyal patients had a lot of fun celebrating a truly special start to an inspiring new life.
